"I found out  like at 7:30," says Carlos Hernandez, a regular customer of Alfonso Hernandez's Bakery..

When Hernandez got the call from employees of the bakery he immediately rushed to the restaurant.

"The workers in the back, they told me someone came and tried to get in through the window," he explains.

Hernandez shows the surveillance video of how it all happened.

The suspect used a rock to bust out the window and immediately headed for the cash register.

To his surprise, it was empty. So he took the money from the restaurant's tip jar and even donations the owners had been collecting for cancer patients.

"It cost more money to fix the window than the money he takes," says Hernandez.

Police reports say the estimated damage of the broken window is $1000, much more than what the suspect got away with.

"That's not right because it's not very much and the most expensive is the broken window and i don't know why he's doing it. I don't know if it's drugs or to just get a drink or something."

According to Hernandez, this isn't the first time someone has tried to get away with cash at the bakery.

"Well, before they tried to steal but they tried to open the back door. After that, that's why we tried to put up all the cameras in the restaurant," says Hernandez.
