City Council to Consider CityLink Management Change

By: Andrew Carlson
Updated: January 25, 2012
The Abilene City Council will consider a management change for the city's public bus service at Thursday's meeting.

For over 30 years, the city has contracted with a private firm, McDonald Transit Incorporated, to operate the CityLink bus system.

Last year, city officials reviewed new proposals from both McDonald and First Transit Incorporated to manage the bus service.

After review, city staff members have determined that First Transit best meets the city's current needs.

If the city council approves the proposal, First Transit will take over operations of CityLink for the next five years, with options to renew for an additional ten years.

The city council meets tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. at city hall.
