TxDOT: Speed Limit Changes Coming to Big Country

Updated: January 26, 2012
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the speed limit on stretches of Interstate 20 spanning the Big Country will be raised to 75 by May.

In a blog posted by TxDOT's Tyler District, the department says they hope to have the new signs up on the interstates by May 1.

The blog quotes TxDOT's public information officer Larry Krantz, who says "The new, higher speed limit doesn't take effect until the new signs are up. That's important to note. Until those signs are changed out, the posted 70 mph speed limit is still in effect. Hopefully the new signs will be in place by May 1."

The blog post lists the following counties spanned by I-20 that are scheduled for the speed limit change: Crane, Ector, Midland, Martin, Howard, Mitchell, Nolan, Taylor, Callahan, Eastland, Erath and Palo Pinto.
