Documents Reveal Man's State of Mind During Puppy Stabbing

By: Victor Sotelo
Updated: January 26, 2012
Documents filed with the district clerk say the man who stabbed his puppy earlier this week was on drugs both during and in the days leading up to the stabbing.

Larry Dollins, Jr. was arrested this week for cruelty to animals after his neighbor saw him stabbing his puppy.

Dollins, Jr. says he could not afford to feed or take the sick dog to the vet, so he tried to kill the dog with a knife. In an interview earlier this week, he said he chose a knife because he did not have a gun.

Documents to revoke his probation say Dollins admitted to authorities that he had been on methamphetamine for four days leading up to the stabbing.

The dog survived and is recovering; and there is a long line of people ready to adopt him.
