Webcast: 2011 Drought Takes Toll on Beef Prices

The cost of beef continues to climb in the supermarkets and restaurants.

Many Texas ranchers sold off their herds because of last year's drought, causing a reduced supply of beef available now.

One Texas expert is predicting a 4 percent drop, or about 1 billion fewer pounds of beef this year than last.

Texas endured a record-breaking drought last year, with many areas of the state receiving only about 60 percent of the normal yearly precipitation.
