Abilene Police arrested a man on Tuesday on felony charges of injury to a child with intent to commit serious bodily injury.

According to the arrest report, 23-year-old Efe Omo Idehen faces first-degree felony charges stemming from an incident that allegedly took place on Sunday.

The arrest report says Idehen told police he placed an 11-month-old child in a bathtub for a bath with water he knew was hot.

The child was crying when in the water, but Idehen claimed the child always cried during baths, the report states.

When Idehen lifted the child out of the water, the skin had "fallen off" of the child's legs, which suffered second and third-degree burns, according to the report.

The child was taken to Hendrick Medical Center before being transported to Parkland Hospital's burn unit in Dallas.

Idehen is being held in Taylor County Jail on $250,000 bond.
