APD: Man Passes Out Behind Wheel

At 10:10 last night, Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a male motorist in the 2700 block of Russell Avenue. Officer Valdez recognized the driver had a suspended Texas driver's license. Upon contact with this male driver, Officer Valdez smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. The car was also occupied by another male suspect. The car was eventually searched and a substance believed to be illegal narcotics was located. The substance tested positive as cocaine. Both suspects were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

At 11:30 last night, Officer Damien Hutchinson contacted a female motorist for a traffic violation in the 800 block of Grape Street. During the contact, Officer Hutchinson observed that the female appeared intoxicated. A standard field sobriety test was administered. The female admitted to taking prescription medications and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The suspect refused to provide a blood specimen.

At 1:25 this morning, Officer Andrew Valdez was dispatched to the 900 block of Chaucer Street about a male subject passed out behind a steering wheel. During the contact, Officer Valdez observed that the male appeared to be intoxicated. A standard field sobriety test was administered. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and refused to provide a specimen.
