Several teams helped in the First Annual Sweetwater Trash Pickers event held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012.

The teams cleaned up Alabama Street from the Interstate 20 exit to Newman Street.

About 45 people showed up to the event and picked up everything from golf balls, dirty diapers, tools, and beer bottles to Styrofoam cups, straws, Lotto tickets and much more.

"It was amazing how much ground we covered in two hours," said event organizer Russ Petty. "It was great to see how many people care about our little corner of the world."
