Taz has come a long way in a short amount of time.

"She is adorable, she is loving.  I just feel great to be the one who got selected for her," said Maegan Jennings, the woman who adopted the mixed breed puppy.

Taz was stabbed 11 times last week and left for dead in a dumpster. Since the incident, Taz has been making an amazing recovery and is ready for her permanent home.

"She is very outgoing, very playful, she loves toys right now. She is just a normal happy puppy," Jennings said.

Jennings works at Key City Veterinary Clinic, the same place Taz has been making her recovery.  Maegan was one of more than 50 people to apply for Taz's adoption.

"A second start to a new life," Jennings said.

Taz, she says, is lucky to be alive.

"When I first saw her she was laying still. She could barely move her head," Mike Collins, with the Abilene Police Department said.

Officer Collins ound Taz in a dumpster. He says Taz was completely covered in blood when he found her. He was afraid she wasn't going to survive.

"I've come by the clinic a few times over the last week and a half and she has improved every time I've seen her," Collins said.

Officials with Key City Veterinary Clinic said it was amazing to see all the support from the community. They received calls from all over the country, from people asking how they can help.

"It feels fantastic to see her happy and healthy and running around and going to a new home," Natalie Matthews, with Key City Veterinarian Clinic said.
