AISD Hosting Informational STAAR Meetings

By: Marlisa Goldsmith
Updated: February 6, 2012
Parents of students taking the new STAAR test this spring will have an opportunity to learn more details about it tonight.

Abilene ISD is providing the first of four meetings that will address a number of changes that are coming in with the new standardized test, particularly the ones that will affect current eighth and ninth graders enrolled in algebra.

AISD personnel will inform parents of decisions that were made at the state and local level.

"We want to make sure the ninth graders and their parents are very informed of what changes have been made and what are still pending regarding whether it's from the state or from the district," says Jeannie Forehand, Director of Accountability.

The first meeting is tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Cooper High School auditorium.
