Abilene Regional Airport Moves Forward as AE Uncertainty Looms

By: Stetson
Updated: February 8, 2012
American Eagle service in Abilene will stay the same for now.

The Airport Development Board reports the airline will make any decisions, not the airport.

Forest Service air tankers will use the airport as a base for the next two years under a contract approved on Wednesday.

The board will announce a ribbon cutting for the new control tower soon with construction nearly done. The FAA hopes to have the tower up and running on April 29th.

The TSA full body scanner will go into service February 17th.
