This Valentine's day, over 110 million stemmed roses will be sold, most will be imported from South America and die after 2 weeks. So instead of giving cut roses, try the more green option and go to the source, a rose bush.

"Rose bushes they will last forever not just two weeks after the expiration date on cut flowers."  Said Mandy Roberts of Green World.

A rose bush can be purchased at a garden store for a price a little less than a bouquet and surprisingly West Texas has great climate to grow them in.

"Roses are actually cold tolerant and heat tolerant." Said Mandy Roberts.

And you don't have to be an expert.

"Roses are not nearly as hard to grow as people think." Said Mandy Roberts.

So make a date of it and plant them in your backyard.  They are the gift that keeps on giving.

"You always be reminded of that person or that holiday." Said Mandy Roberts.
