Breckenridge Police Working with New Technology

By: Rob Durham, The Breckenridge American
Updated: February 13, 2012
Breckenridge Police are now rolling around the streets of Stephens County with new technology.

The department squad cars have been outfitted with laptops, thanks to a grant from Tarleton State University.

The laptops have the WinBadge system, which allows officers to check warrants, file incident reports and file arrest paperwork on site.

BPD Chief Larry Mahan said the new system will save the department from $60,000 to $80,000 annually.

"Officers will be able to access any needed information from their car and it will save a lot of time," he said.
