APD: Employee Stops Theft, Gets Assaulted

At 4:40 p.m. Friday, Officer Marc Valentine contacted a motorist for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied by a female driver who was busy eating chips out of a bag. The other occupant, and owner of the vehicle, granted officers permission to search the vehicle. The food bag the female had possession of contained baggies with a substance that tested positive for cocaine. The female suspect was arrested for felony possession of cocaine.

At 3:19 Saturday afternoon, Officer Christopher Volirakis was dispatched to a disturbance in-progress at a business in the 1600 block of Highway 351. A male suspect was contacted by loss prevention and during the commission of a theft, the suspect assaulted the loss prevention employee. The suspect was arrested for robbery and was also warned not to return to the business.

At 4:53 p.m. Sunday, Officer Brandon Scott was dispatched to a disturbance in-progress in the 5200 block of Laguna Drive. A male suspect was contacted. A female victim had just finished breaking up a fight between the suspect and a female involved party. Investigation revealed that the suspect had assaulted the victim and he was arrested for assault family violence.
