"And I checked my emails and it says on there that I had a 309 dollar payment going out through paypal to this company I had never heard of in my life."

Dwayne Wallace is the latest victim of the ever-increasing telemarketing scams. Yesterday, they targeted a piece of property that holds most of his personal information: his computer.

Wallace says, "And i don't remember authorizing him to get in there, I think he was already in there."

Wallace answered a call yesterday afternoon from an unknown man claiming Windows had shut down and that he would help Wallace restore the system.

"He sounded like he knew what he was doing," says Wallace adding, "so I just let him go."

Two computers and several hours later, the man claimed he was finished wth the job. Except there was no job to be done. Instead, the man charged over 300 dollars to wallace's credit card. The better business bureau has received several calls over the past month, many in recent days about the same sort of scam.

Steve Abel of the Better Business Bureau says, "A lot of dangers when somebody calls you and says 'sit down in front of your computer. I want access to it.' "

Long-term repercussions like thieves stealing secure information to open accounts in your name or stealing your identity altogether. Dwayne Wallace realizes his mistake and hopes no one else makes the same one he did.

"I feel about half sick to my stomach right now. Not knowing whether I'm going to be ripped off for $309.00 or what. I just feel terrible."
