Saturday, the 15th annual Abilene Scholastic Chess Tournment was held at Taylor Elementary.
This year's event brought out 60 kids from the Abilene area.
The organizer of the event said it offers a great opportunity for kids to come out and play a game that teaches them so much.
"[The children] Learn how to be good winners, good losers, they learn all the virtues that come with learning how to play a game well and they have a lot of fun just playing together," said chess organizer, Vic McCracken.
The event is open to students in first through twelth grades.
