Warm Winter Conditions Bring Weed Woes

By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: February 20, 2012
After making it through a rather unseasonably warm winter, you may notice the weeds on your lawn returning with full force.

Customers have already started making their way to garden stores to battle the rise of weeds all across the area.

Recent changes in weather such as rain, sunny conditions and cool nights have all made the perfect recipe for weeds to flourish.

February is typically the month people are advised to do last-minute trimmings and treatments for the spring season.

"I recommend that you bag the mowing and help pick up some of those weed seeds so that you're not tossing it around," says Co-Owner of Willow Creek Gardens Adam Andrews. "We sell a lot of pre-emergent and post-emergent to go after the weeds and pretty soon it's time to be putting down fertilizer. Spring is springing, so it's time to get back out in the yard."

It is recommended that people start treating their lawns with a pre-emergent now, before your grass starts to green up.
