The Anson Park Seniors Community held their first annual senior prom dedicated to the day of love.
This gives the seniors an opportunity to say that they went to their senior prom even if they did not. Or they can reminisce the time when they were young and they did go to their senior prom.
Seniors and their families danced the night away to a live band all coordinated by new life, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the men and women who live in the centers 80 units .
And just like a high school prom, it took all day to prepare.
"They were in today quite a bit of the time and they were talking about what dress they were going to wear and we had people in here doing nails and we had a hair stylist," said Kathy Hewes, the center's director.
After dinner and dancing, the night couldn't have ended without crowning the prom king and queen.
The winners were given a hotel stay and dinner at a local restaurant.
Residents like Kenny Sleck say the nights success went beyond just the dancing.
"The people, the camaraderie," he said. "I've met a lot of good friends and they're all here and apparently they voted so it's nice, i love it, it's a good place."
As the night came to an end all agreed that this would be one party they'll never forget.
