UPDATE: APD Bomb Squad Robot Destroys Suspicious Package

A tense situation was diffused in front of the Sweetwater post office after an Abilene Police Department bomb squad robot destroyed a suspicious package this afternoon.

Officials in Sweetwater were reportedly on heightened awareness following the presence of several protesters outside the Nolan County Courthouse yesterday and its close proximity to the post office.

The package reportedly contained a cellphone.

There were no injuries.
