Updated: February 23, 2012
Citizens who own equines living in Taylor County still have time to the apply for the ASPCA Great Bale Out grant that provides free hay. But this opportunity won't last much longer, as March is the last month that these grants may be applied for.

"The Abilene Animal Shelter is still accepting applications for the Great Bale Out through the month of March," said Animal Services Manager Aaron Vannoy. "These grants have fed 26 equines in our community over 300 bales of hay. We encourage those who are interested to contact us soon so they can take part in this wonderful opportunity."

This grant is only available for equines living in Taylor County and citizens must apply in person at the Abilene Animal Shelter with a current photo of their equines.

The shelter is located at 925 South 25th Street and is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For more information contact the Abilene Animal Shelter at 325-698-0085 or e-mail Abilene.AnimalServices@abilenetx.com.
