Texas Third Worst For Employer-Provided Insurance

By: Vertex News
Updated: February 23, 2012
A new report shows Texas is the third worst state when it comes to employer-provided insurance.

The Economic Policy Institute report shows just over 51 percent of Texas' non-elderly population is covered by an employer.

Center for Public Policy Priorities officials say the report shows Texas needs more health reforms.

Policy analysts say the health care reform law provides strong incentives for the larger employers to keep offering benefits and offers affordable solutions for small firms and families who can't afford coverage.

Mississippi is the worst for employer-provided insurance with just over 48 percent covered, while New Hampshire has the highest rate of coverage at 73 percent.
