On Thursday, trustees approved joining the coalition's litigation against the state. School districts which are members of the Texas School Coalition filed the school-finance lawsuit against the state in December.
The coalition is an organization of school districts interested in improving school funding laws, specifically for propertywealthy districts.
The lawsuit claims the state fails to provide schools with sufficient funding to meet state educational standards and the system has become a statewide property tax.
The law firm Haynes and Boone, LLP is representing the coalition. More than 120 school districts are part of the litigation.
