By: News Release
Updated: February 24, 2012
Ranger College Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach Robert Reid will be honored by the Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

Reid, a veteran of the NBA for 14 years has been named by the Rockets, through media and fan selection as the top vote winner for 1980s "Player of the Decade."

Coach Reid said, "I am humbled and honored by this recognition. I am hoping that the celebrating will begin Saturday when we face Temple at home, 4:00 p.m. Winning Saturday will be great, and we will be able to give our fans, faculty, students, and players something else to be proud of: a conference championship for the first time since 1968-69."

Reid is no stranger to winning, and he feels it is important to teach these players that they can be winners both on and off the court.
