We see our fair share of farms in West Texas, but not many vineyards.  Vince Viola of Trail's End Vineyard say with the correct formula, West Texas is the next Napa Valley.

"This is amazing soil for the particular variety Sangiovese  and the chemical makeup has seemed to make good grapes so far."  Said Vince Viola.

Trail's End Vineyard is in its fourth season and Vince attributes the success to the organic compost.

"We have amended the soil yearly with an organic compost called humate." Said Mr. Viola.

The organic mix is so nutrient rich giving it its dark color.

"That product humate that really gives it it organic boost."  Said the Vince.

And after such a tough summer, Vince was able to keep his grapes growing with drip irrigation.

"The drip is very precise so it doesn't waste water." Said Vince.

Making this green vineyard a rare gem in Abilene.

"It's nice to have something to take you away from everyday life."  Said Vince Viola.
