This weekend dozens of Texas Country artists will take the stage for the 2nd Annual Outlaws & Legends Music Fest, all for a good cause.

Backporch Productions, teamed up with Disability Resources of Abilene, to donate a portion of the proceeds raised at the music festival to the non-profit organization.

"We have a number of opportunities throughout the year to do fundraising events," explains CEO and President of D.R.I, Dickie Greenwood. "This is one that is really, really, really a blessing to D.R.I. because it's one that someone else did and basically just brought us a check."

Mark Powell, a representative from Backporch Productions, says their relationship with D.R.I. came about through mutual contacts and a desire to help.

"This really came about in a very organic way," Powell explains. "We made a call to Dickie and said we have a we've got a couple sponsors related to this, and lets see what can happen."

Last year, Outlaws & Legends raised over $30,000 for D.R.I, which was a surprise to both Powell and Greenwood.

"We really never anticipated the volume that we got last year," says Powell. "We were hoping to get $20,000, but we were blessed and just glad to do that for D.R.I."

When asked about a new goal for this year's event, Greenwood says he'll be happy no matter what the turnout.

"We're going to be very very pleased with anything that we get," says Greenwood. "Last year's $31,810 was quite a blessing."

The money goes straight into the Disability Resources operating budget, which provides services for adults with disabilities.

"We've got about 50 individuals who are in our program," says Greenwood, "and it's just a really neat organization, we encourage people to come out and see us."
