Updated: March 2, 2012
At 4:36 p.m. yesterday, Officer Thomas Bryant observed a male subject in the 2500 block of Nonesuch Road who fit the description of a wanted person. Officer Bryant made contact with the man who initially lied about his identity. The investigation revealed that the man had left the confines of the Taylor County Restitution Center without permission, a felony offense. The male suspect was arrested for unauthorized absence from a community corrections facility.

At 5:40 p.m. yesterday, Officer Marc Valentine was dispatched to a disturbance call in the 1700 block of North Sixth Street. The calling party stated she had been assaulted by her husband. Officer Valentine arrived on scene and contacted both parties. His investigation revealed that the female victim had obvious visible injuries and that she feared further physical violence. Based on the totality of the circumstances, the male suspect was arrested for assault/family violence.

At 10:44 p.m. yesterday, Officers were dispatched to an armed-subject call in the 2900 block of Old Anson Road. The calling party informed the dispatcher that shots had been fired. Investigation revealed that the victim and a male suspect knew each other and they had gotten into an argument that escalated when the suspect produced a handgun and fired it several times, allegedly near or towards the victim. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival and a report for the offense of deadly conduct was taken by Officer Joe Long. This investigation continues.
