Good Samaritan Raising Hunger Awareness in Brown Co.

By: Josh Berry
Updated: March 2, 2012
Good Samaritan Ministries in Brown County is preparing for their largest event of the year in an effort to increase hunger awareness for the area.

Good Samaritan Ministries will sell 1,000 bowls of soup to supporters for $10 each.

The project aims to show community members what it's like to go hungry, take a bowl of soup but still go home with an empty stomach and an empty bowl.

Different organizations across the county including schools, like Early High School, have taken part in painting the bowls.

90 percent of the proceeds will go back to the local hunger ministries.

In previous years the event has raised as much as $7,000 and this year they expect more.

The event is at the Brownwood Coliseum March 29 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
