Family Upset Over Claims They Lied About Fire Misfortune

A local family who claims they lost everything in a motel fire in Abilene this week is upset after an anonymous source claimed they are lying.
Authorities say they can't confirm that, despite other reports claiming they have.
The Sharp family was living at the Rodeway Inn while their son receives treatment for an illness here in Abilene.
When the hotel caught fire Wednesday, the Sharps claim they lost what little they had in the fire.
Carla Sharp told BigCountryHomePage.com staff that she is very upset about these allegations.
The fire department says they helped the family get some of their belongings out of the hotel room, and Sharp says when they went through the items, they were damaged by smoke and water.
There are no charges against the Sharps, who now say they are not accepting anymore donations.

A family who lost everything in a motel fire is now looking to the community for help.
Carla and Johnny Sharp and their 4-year-old son Cameron moved into the Rodeway Inn on Pine Street in Abilene just two days before it caught fire Wednesday.
"Cameron had to miss school today because he didn't have no clothes to wear to school. It's just hard losing all of your belongings, especially when you're starting over again anyway," Carla said.
Losing everything isn't even the worst of Carla's worries. Cameron is severely autistic and was recently diagnosed with a terminal genetic disorder called Chromosome 11q Deletion.
"It affects his brain function, his organ function, and we were told that he's going to have a shortened lifespan," Carla said.
"The doctor wanted us to take him out of school. We ain't doing that," added Johnny.
Now they fear each day they spend with Cameron could be their last.
"They said don't be surprised one morning if we go to wake him up and he don't wake up. Everyday I face that. I face 'is my child going to die today?'" Carla said.
The Sharps are now looking for help to get back on their feet and keep fighting for Cameron.
"I mean, it don't have to be much. Even if they could just donate a pack of diapers or shirts and pants for my son," Carla said.
"We're going to stay right there in Abilene. Just try to get Cameron the most treatment we can get. Whatever it takes," Johnny said.
Donations for the Sharps can be dropped off at room 111 at the Rodeway Inn on Pine Street in Abilene.
An account under the name "Johnny Sharp Benefit Fund" has also been opened at the First National Bank of Rotan. The bank can be reached at (325) 735-2224.
