Brown County Experiencing 9-1-1 Problems

By: Bigcountryhomepage.com Staff Reports
Updated: March 5, 2012
A technical problem has resulted in some callers experiencing busy signals when calling Brown County's 9-1-1 emergency line.

The Brownwood Police Department released the following statement this morning:

"Brown County's 9-1-1 telephone system experienced a computer malfunction affecting the entire county. Dialing 9-1-1 should still enable the caller to reach an emergency operator, however, if you receive a busy signal please contact our direct line at (325) 646-2525.

The West Central Texas Council of Governments is in charge of this system and is working diligently with support staff to alleviate this problem. We expect the 9-1-1 system to return to normal by Wednesday if all goes well.

The Brownwood Police Department will keep you updated with any changes until 9-1-1 services are restored."
