Granger Smith to Perform During Rattlesnake Round-Up

By: Sweetwater Reporter
Updated: March 6, 2012
Granger Smith has been honing his craft of singing and songwriting since his early teens and has continued to grow in his musicianship, exploding onto the Texas red dirt music scene.

"Sleeping On The Interstate" is the single from Smith's most recent album, Poets & Prisoners and landed in the Top Ten on the Texas Music Chart. This comes on the heels of an impressive list of previous hits for Smith. In 2008, he debuted "Colorblind," which immediately landed right into the top Top 10. When his 2009 album, Don't Listen to the Radio released, so did five more chart topping hits.

"My intention with Poets & Prisoners is to bring people in closer," Smith says. "I've taken and applied the lessons I learned from mistakes and successes of the previous albums; my greatest hope is that we satisfy our current fans while blazing a path for new ones that we might gain from this album."

2011 proved to be Granger Smith's biggest year yet, especially with the release of his latest single, "I'm Wearing Black." With Poets & Prisoners, fans will take a heartfelt journey with Smith through an exceptionally dynamic record. Earnest melodies, fresh and honest lyrics to fall in love with -- all brought to you through warm lead vocals, soaring guitars, funky mandolin and thematic piano highlights. Once again, this project comes straight from Smith's home studio, featuring all of his road players and is led by the lyrical honesty of the radio single, "Sleeping On The Interstate."

Smith recently partnered with Ranch Hand grill guards and will serve as the Company's spokesperson. The sponsorship organically ties in to Granger's lifestyle and this is Ranch Hand's first foray into the country music space. Since 1986, Ranch Hand has become the #1 source for truck accessories. Ranch Hand's reputation was built on rugged durability and has evolved into a heavy-duty product that is designed to enhance the look of the latest model trucks and SUV's.

And Granger's influence goes beyond music -- on April 24, Smith walked 100 miles in combat boots from South Austin to the Ft. Hood military post in Killeen, as a means to show support for the troops on the front lines, those at home, and those remembered. He is also dedicated to educating teenagers on the dangers of texting while driving, touring and playing for high schools to help spread his message.

Granger Smith is an adept presence, both on stage and through the speakers, and with his continued rise in popularity he will soon be a household name in country music. But Smith insists he will always keep pushin' the pedal.

"I think that, five years down the road, I'll probably still be striving for something else that I'm not quite getting. I'm always looking towards the next step."

Granger Smith will continue touring extensively throughout Texas this summer. For all tour dates and more information, please visit www.grangersmith.com.
