Abilene Police Dept. Debuts Crime Mapping App for Apple Devices

By: Press Release, Abilene Police Department
Updated: March 6, 2012
We're pleased to announce that RAIDS Online, a public crime map, has gone mobile! RAIDS Online Mobile is now available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This is another way for the Abilene community to stay informed about crime trends while away from their computers.

Since late 2010, the Abilene Police Department (APD) has partnered with BAIR Analytics Inc. to provide our community with crime mapping capabilities that empowers the public to make better decisions about their safety. Crime mapping helps the public get a better idea of the crime activity in their neighborhoods through information provided from APD to BAIR Analytics. This is the same type of technology used by APD to assist with analysis of crime activity. APD continues to provide a link to RAIDS-Online at our website, www.abilenepolice.org

RAIDS-Online Mobile allows you to search for crime in your area, visualize crime hotspots, sign up for neighborhood watch reports (daily, weekly or monthly e-mails) and view crime maps. The information viewable to the user includes crime type, date, time, address, location type, and other information. The technology allows the user to filter the data to their particular needs. RAIDS Online Mobile does not currently work with Android devices.

This information highlights our commitment to be proactive with the public we serve.

The mobile app is available for free on the App Store; http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/raids-online-mobile/id496011979?mt=8
