People at Dyess Air Force Base are marking a milestone today.

The 317th Airlift Group commemorated 3,000 consecutive days of being deployed this morning.

That's about eight years with some of the members of the squad on duty away from the base.

They started with a memorial for a fallen airmen that included a tree planting ceremony before several airmen shared their stories of service during the past 3,000 days.

A plaque was also placed at the base of the tree by the 317th Airlift Group in memory of the fallen airmen.
