The downtown Abilene Post Office participated in "Passport Day in the USA."

The Post Office is normally closed on the weekends, but they took the opportunity to open their doors to allow people to apply for their passport Saturday.

The Lead Service and Sales Associate at the Post Office, Lee Drummond, said it is a great way to offer people who normally have work or school obligations during the week to be able to get what they need.

Drummond said, "A lot of times they don't want to take their children out of school to come down and sometimes people find it suitable and more easy to obtain on a weekend."

The Abilene Post Office said they didn't mind coming in to help give people the opportunity to see the world.
