Abilene police arrested a 25-year-old man who reportedly ran away when the officers tried to speak with him late Sunday night.

Police say they went to check on a report of loud noises at a home in the 1300 block of Kirkwood at about midnight.

Police say Johnny Edward Applin ran from the house and tossed a handgun away as the officers chased him.

Police caught up with the man and found that he was named on some old arrest warrants alleging that he violated the terms of parole.
