"The concept behind the whole deal is providing clean, free water to students here and then giving them the opportunity to donate to charity water," Hunter Mangrum explains.

It's the Water 4 Water initiative.

It was developed by the Green Team, the same students who started Hardin-Simmons' first recycling program.

"A lot of times I'll go to fill up my bottle and there's a line of a couple people," says Brendon Kelso, a student at Hardin-Simmons.

Even though it is fairly new, Kelso says it has been a big hit and students are in full support of the program.

He says, "It's a great initiative, just that the school is stepping up and helping and providing funds however we can."

It is a simple two step process. Students and faculty here at the university have the opportunity to swipe their ID card, walk over to the Brita Hydration Station and by filling their reusable water bottle, they're able to provide clean fresh water to the rest of the world.

"So if each student on campus were to donate $2 to this cause over the course of a year then we can buy that well and give that clean water to those people," says Mangrum.

In order to reach that goal, students would only have to swipe their card 8 times, a task that seems to be much easier than writing a term paper.

"It's a simple idea, easy to use, and to be able to help," says Kelso.
