By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: March 13, 2012
This week marks the annual "Flood Safety Awareness Week" across the nation, which strives to help protect you from dangerous flooding situations.

Over the years flash floods have been the number one killer in the US, but Texas holds the lead on the most flood fatalities in the nation.

The goal of this week is to heighten awareness of flash flood dangers, provide safety information and educate people so that they can make better decisions to protect their lives and property from flash floods.
