Snyder Police Following All Leads in Drive-By Shooting

Updated: March 14, 2012
Snyder police continue to investigate a Sunday drive-by shooting on Avenue I.

No one was injured in the shooting, but a vehicle was struck by two bullets from what police believe was a 9mm weapon.

On Tuesday, Police Chief Terry Luecke said officers are still following up on several leads and gathering evidence, which indicates that the shooting was not a random act. He noted that no new information was available.

Investigators have a description of the vehicle used in the shooting, but have not named a suspect.

Dispatch received a call reporting six to 12 shots fired in the area just southwest of the Coleman Apartments at 10:52 p.m. Sunday, followed by a call from a woman who said someone shot at her.

While four units were being dispatched, 911 received three additional calls reporting shots fired in the 2100 block of Ave. I.

The vehicle was struck on Ave. I, with one bullet entering through the driver's side window and another through the driver's side back window -- which shattered the glass and exited through the front windshield.

Police have filed a report for deadly conduct, a third-degree felony, which carries a prison sentence of two to 10 years upon conviction.

"If anybody has any information, call the police department," Luecke said. The phone number is 573-0261.
