Man Arrested for Public Intoxication Facing Felony Assault Charges

A man who was arrested for public intoxication over the weekend now faces felony charges after punching a jailer.

According to reports, 32-year-old Jason Gomez was found extremely intoxicated in the passenger seat of his vehicle on Grape Street early Sunday morning.
 
Police say he resisted arrest, and when they finally got him to the Taylor County Jail, he punched a jailer in the face.

He's now charged with assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, in addition to public intoxication and resisting arrest.
