"Every morning I'm still getting up. Several hours through the night I'll still be awake and I'm losing sleep over it," says Amanda King.

Her car was targeted in one of a handful of recent vehicle break-ins and in her case, the burglars didn't go unnoticed.

King adds, "And so I'm chasing after them. The lady on the 911 call was telling me go back home. You don't know if they're armed."

Despite the danger, King and her husband immediately took action after spotting the suspects..

"You know, my heart was racing,Ii was scared, but at the same time I wasn't willing to lose what i had worked for," says King.

The crooks took off with the touch-screen panel of her CD changer.

King says, "I just wanted it back so I was willing to do what I had to to get it back."

Officer George Spindler, of the Abilene Police Department says, "Because of the quick thinking involved in this particular investigation, the officers were able to track down the suspects soon after the burglary."

Abilene police say it's become all too common across town, and in many cases, residents are making it easy for crooks.

"We found that a common trend were, the doors were unlocked in their vehicles. And that made it very easy to break in," says Spindler.

But king insists her doors were locked and is not sure why she was a target.

King says, "I don't feel safe anymore. I don't. Because regardless if your doors are locked or not, they can still get in."
