Updated: March 16, 2012
AUSTIN, Texas -- Nick Kozole squeezed home Clayton Gommert in the bottom of the 11th inning as Concordia beat Hardin-Simmons 3-2 in American Southwest Conference action at Tornado Field on Friday night.

The Tornados jumped on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Kyle Rodriguez. HSU answered with a run in the third when Jason Vause had an RBI's fielder's choice when he hustled down the line to beat out what would have been a double play.

HSU took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Jordan Dotson and Concordia answered with a Gommert RBI single.

Both starters were good. Troy Nicholson went seven and one-third innings and allowed two earned runs and just four hits. Stewart Person ended up taking the loss in relief, allowing the run in the 11th. Scott Hays went six and one-third innings and struck out eight but did not factor into the decision.

Concordia loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Tyler Brunnemann got out of the jam with a force out at home and two strike outs. He struck out five batters in two innings for HSU.

The Concordia bullpen worked four and two-third innings of two-hit shutout ball. Ryan Ullman won the game in relief.

Andrew Rehling had two hits for HSU. Rodriguez had three hits for Concordia.

The Cowboys are now 1-3 on the year in ASC play and 7-9 overall. Concordia improved to 18-4 overall and to 4-0 in ASC play. The teams will play a 1 p.m. doubhleheader on Saturday.
