Convicted of shooting a man, an Abilene woman says he was trying to get into her home. Facing three years in prison, Deborah Dearing talked with KTAB's Victor Sotelo from the Taylor County Jail. Dearing said she is still living a nightmare.

Dearing said she still can't believe a Taylor County jury convicted her of aggravated assault for what she says was using her 2nd amendment right.

It was back in October of 2010 that a man came to her door after an argument with Dearing's boyfriend and demanded that he come out of the North 13th home.

He then came back a second time and that's when she shot him in the leg.

But a witness said the man was in the street when she shot him.

She said she will appeal her case and that this case has far reaching implications, not only for her and her family, but for gun rights as well.
