ACU Starts Ken Collums Era WIth Spring Football

By: David Robinett & Alyssa Orange
Updated: March 21, 2012
The ACU Wildcats started the Ken Collums era this week with the start of spring football.

Collums takes over for former Head Coach Chris Thomsen, who led the Wildcats to the playoffs 6 times. The Wildcats were 8-3 in 2011 and advanced to the NCAA division 2 playoffs. The work to maintain that tradition is underway, and Collums adjusting to the view as the head coach.

"It felt a little strange at times, for about 15-20 minutes there, doing from offense to defense. I'm going to have to find a balance, and by the end of spring ill have it, but I certainly don't have that yet, and where I need to be, and the kind of input that people need from me." Says Collums.

Offensively the wildcats are led by 3 year starter Mitchell Gale. The defense has to find a way to replace Ashton Whiteside.  Friday will be the 1st day for full pads.
