"Even today, looking at a map, I still thought, no there can't be somebody in there," says Holly Jenkins.

Tuesday afternoon employees at Desert Tanks came across human remains.

"They were partially exposed and they found them while they were working because they were working just 50-100 feet from them," says Sgt. Tony Everett of Big Spring Police Department.

Everett briefed the media on what investigators were doing in a press conference today.

"We secured the scene, contacted the FBI as evidence for the response team and they are now as of about 9:30 this morning on the scene and the scene is in their hands," he says.

Due to the condition of the remains, not much has been able to be determined with regards to the identification of the body.

Everett explains, "We have no idea the gender, the race, anything about the remains, other than they are human."

Which makes Jenkins think the body that was found may indeed be Hailey Dunn.

She says, "The location is definitely a location that I think if you're not familiar with the area, you wouldn't be able to find it."

Jenkins has been searching for Dunn since January of 2011 and says the area where the body was found is one that could have easily been overlooked.

"It's fenced and it looks like a business so being a searcher I wouldn't go in there anyway because it looks to me to be private property," says Jenkins.

It sits just a couple miles away from the mother's house of Shawn Adkins, the only suspect named in the case. It was a place he spent much of his time after Hailey went missing.

KRBC asked one resident who lives near the crime scene what she thought about the discovery being made so close to the home.

Danine Smith said, "I don't know what to tell you on that but it is very close, as the crow flies."
