Parents, students and school faculty in Colorado City are trying not to anticipate the worst as to whether remains found in Big Spring are really that of missing teen Hailey Dunn.
"Well my daughter Salima just hopes that she's still alive out there somewhere," said resident and parent Lori Barnett.
Some however, are hoping for closure.
"I hope that they do find closure, I hope that it is her so that there is closure, everyone deserves closure," said parent and resident Deborah Chaney.
School faculty around the area are waiting it out before preparing students for the worst.
"This morning we met with staff and we just wanted to make sure that our kids were, watch them first off," said Dalton West, Principal at Colorado City High School, "They've been pretty low key. Other than there's always things going on in the media and Facebook and things of that sort, but other than that it was a typical normal, quiet day."
Hailey would have been attending the high school as a freshman and many still hang on to the hope of the possibility of her coming back.
"It might not be her, it might be somebody else," said Barnett.
