Updated: March 22, 2012
The Abilene Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 1600 block of Fannin Street early Thursday morning.

According to AFD, firefighters arrived at the scene around 2:00 a.m. to see heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and no one was hurt. Crews located three pets in one of the bedrooms, but they were also not injured.

Investigators determined that the fire was caused by the dryer in the garage, as the main source of the fire was contained to the area where the dryer was located.
