There are other young people who have been affected by Hailey's disappearance: her classmates.

Hailey would have been a freshman at Colorado High School this year.

Tragedy is fresh in the minds of students at Colorado High School, after a junior at the school was killed in a car accident last week.

The Superintendent of Colorado City ISD says students need to be able to see the positive side of all of this.

"Has it been straining or negative on these kids? Oh, yes," says Superintendent Reggy Spencer.

In tragedies like this, the school strives to meet the needs of their students not only educationally, but emotionally.

"They have a lot going on in their lives so we want to make sure they're taken care of. And again, that's our number one priority," Spencer says.

The school has set up counselors at both the middle school and the high school, as Hailey would be a freshman this year.

Spencer says, "I think we have the capability of providing...what our students need."

They're in a bit of a holding pattern though, as are most involved with the efforts to find Hailey.

"With this latest development, we're still holding out hope that it's not Hailey," says volunteer searcher Freda Radcliff.

For now whether the remains turn out to be Hailey or not, the school can find one positive in this whole situation.

"You know the one positive thing that I see out of this, if it's not her then we brought her back in the light again, and maybe somewhere out there somehow if someone sees her, then hey, this is bringing it up again," Spencer says.
