According to Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, Deputy Nathan Land with the Brown County Sheriff's Office arrested 37-year-old Christy Lanham of Coleman, Texas for possession of various drugs packaged for distribution.

On Saturday around midnight, Deputy Land was conducting criminal interdiction in an attempt to interrupt criminal activity on the highway and county roadways. According to Grubbs, Deputy Land stopped Christy Lanham for a traffic violation. During the course of his stop, Lanham exhibited signs of deception and nervousness that Deputy Land had been trained to detect. Upon further check of Lanham's background, it was discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest out of Tarrant County for possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams less than 400 grams.

Deputy Land arrested Lanham for the outstanding warrant and then conducted an inventory of her vehicle, where he located two large bags of methamphetamine totaling an amount over 20 grams providing as many as 100 abuse units to be sold to individuals, according to BSCO reports.

Grubbs stated that this amount of methamphetamine has a street value of $3,000 to $4,000. One of the bags was broken down in to smaller packages, which is a further indicator of the intent of delivery, according to the report. A bag of marijuana, prescription drugs and a total of $1,325 in cash were also located in and seized from the vehicle, according to the report. The investigation continues into the possible seizure of the Chevrolet Camaro driven by Christy Lanham.

Based on this arrest and investigation it is believed that Lanham was trafficking drugs between Ft. Worth, Brownwood and Coleman, according to the Sheriff's office.

Sheriff Grubbs commended Deputy Land and all of the other patrol deputies who assisted.

"Deputy Land's keen investigative eye and his aggressive approach to detect and prevent crimes in a proactive manner is an example what makes the Brown County Sheriff's Office patrol division so effective in their service to the citizens of Brown County," Grubbs said.
