UPDATE: Missing Brown Co. Man Located

Primary reports to the Brown County Sheriff's Office indicate that Mr. West has been located in Comanche County.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office has issued the following release regarding a missing Brown County man:
According to Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, the Brown County Sheriff's Office has issued a Silver Alert for a missing 87-year-old man from May, Texas.
On March 25, 2012 around 5:30 p.m., Homer Gibbs West, age 87, went missing from his home located at the Brown County, Comanche County line on Brown County road 489. He was last seen outside the residence by his wife. It is believed that he left the home on foot. The residence is located in an extremely rural area, and he is believed to still be in the area. However it is still possible that someone could have picked him up walking on the road. At times he can appear lucid, and many not have drawn suspicion to his illness. Mr. West suffers from Alzheimer and may be confused about is location or his destination. Mr. West is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds with white hair and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a cream colored shirt, blue jean overalls, black boots, and possibly a red cap. He had his wallet with him that contained his identification.
Anyone having seen Mr. West within the last 24 hours can contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 325-646-5510with the details.
Since receiving the call around 8:00 p.m., Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety have continued in the search of the area around County Road 489.
Agencies assisting with this search include the May Volunteer Fire Department, Rising Star Volunteer Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Division, and the Texas Department of Corrections K9 tracking and horse mounted division.
Helicopters have been called in from Midland and Waco Texas to assist in the search using flir thermal imaging cameras during last night's search. Search has been extended to search the area on foot, by horse, and by all-terrain vehicles in hopes of locating Mr. West. This area is very remote and heavily covered with brush making the search efforts difficult. The Brown County Sheriff's Office has received an unbelievable amount of support and cooperation from all emergency personnel and volunteers in the area. We will do our best to cover the area and hopefully bring a happy ending to this unfortunate event.
