According to Brown County Sheriff's Office officials, a Brownwood Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle Saturday afternoon which was traveling inbound from Bangs to Brownwood.
The vehicle failed to stop and continued to run from the trooper, according to Brown County Sheriff's Captain Tony Aaron. Units from Brownwood Police Department, Early Police Department, and Brown County joined in to attempt to stop the vehicle before it made it to Brownwood, further endangering the public.
A Brown County Sheriff's Deputy set up spike strips at the bottom of Bangs Hill at the Brownwood city limits to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the vehicle turned around and headed back towards Bangs, reported Aaron.
While officers continued to pursue the vehicle, another deputy set up spike strips around FM 1849, Aaron said. After seeing that there was no escape, 35-year-old Chadwick Wade Taylor of Lovington, New Mexico pulled the vehicle over and was arrested, according to BCSO officials.
Taylor was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Molotsky and charged with evading arrest or detention with vehicle, unlawful carrying of weapon, illegal dumping, and open container in motor vehicle. Taylor, as of Monday morning was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $13,000.
The Department of Public Safety is continuing their investigation into why the suspect fled.
"This is another example of wonderful work by all the area law enforcement, pulling together to protect the public," said Captain Aaron.
