You probably never thought pipe cleaners could be used in the fight against prostitution, but that is exactly what a local prophetic artist is doing to bring attention to the fight against sexual slavery in Thailand.

"The pipe cleaner rings really began as a way of blessing people," explains Prophetic Artist, Latimer Ramsey, "to be able to draw people in and tell people about Jesus."

But the simple gesture quickly became much more than a fun piece of jewelry.

"I was led to take one on a trip down, or take a whole bunch on a trip down to Belize," says Ramsey. "Slowly but surely, God has been revealing to me the different purposes."

Ramsey's pipe cleaner rings even made their way to Thailand, along with students from the Transformation School of Spiritual Ministry in Abilene, Texas.

"They went specifically to go down Walking Street, which has the highest concentration of prostitution in the world," says Ramsey.

Many of the men and women working on Walking Street have been held captive and forced into the sex trafficking industry in Thailand.

"The wonderful thing about pipe cleaners is that nobody has built up a resistance to a pipe cleaner, and so they're drawn to it," explains Ramsey.

The pipe cleaners provide the ministry teams with an open door to the people on Walking Street, allowing them to broach a much deeper subject matter.

"They can talk to them about who they really are, and their identity, and how valuable they are," says Ramsey. "Many of these people they encounter have never heard how valuable they were."

So what is it about pipe cleaners that make the difference? Ramsey says it has a lot to do with their colors.

"Each one has a prophetic meaning that has been placed in it by God," explains Ramsey. "So when they get to visit with people and tell them who they are and how valuable they are, things just change."

Ramsey shares the experience of a woman, who was about to enter in to prostitution for the first time in order to save her family.

"She broke down completely, and just said 'I don't want to do this, I want to give my life to Christ.'"

And to think, it all started with a simple conversation about a pipe cleaner.
